The Exorcism of Emily's Rose Toy by Missy Love

**This blog contains adult language and description of...ahem...adult activities.**

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!!! This is a recap blog which means I read the book and tell you everything that happens so you don't have to read it yourself. Do NOT continue to read unless you want to have the story completely and utterly spoiled.

Book Description: When Emily inherits an old, crumbling estate from a great aunt she barely knew, she expects dust, repairs and a fresh start – not an awakening of sensual hunger and ghostly obsession. But the house holds more than memories. A mysterious, unseen presence lingers in the shadows watching...wanting. At first, it's just a whisper in the dark, a brush of phantom touch. But soon, Emily finds herself consumed by pleasure – and something far more powerful and dangerous.

TRIGGER WARNING: We have some very dubious consent going on here because Emily is under the influence of a ghost and therefore her consent is compromised. There is also some non-con where someone is forced to watch a sexual act against his will and again later when Emily is “sexorcised” against her will. Also....incest. This is not a “serious” book at all and Emily doesn't seem to have feelings or trauma from any of these things but I know some of you might not feel the same. If either of these things will harm your mental health in any way, please skip this one and I'll catch you next time.

We begin with Emily who has just inherited an old Victorian house from her great aunt. It's not in the greatest shape but she's already a little in love with it. Robert (I don't know who the fuck he is – brother, friend, boyfriend, husband, father) thinks that it looks haunted but Emily thinks it just “needs love”.

The house is dirty, dusty and smells like decay. Emily still sees potential but Robert says the house definitely needs an exorcism. As soon as he says that, they hear a thump from upstairs. Robert suggests they get the hell out and tells her she should find someplace else to stay for the night because there could be “squatters, ghosts, or murderous rodents living upstairs”. Personally, I'm with Robert. I could deal with the first two but that last one is a big nope from me.

Emily insists they go upstairs to check it out. They end up in the primary bedroom. On the grimy, crusty bed they find a little wooden box. It's the only thing in the room without dust on it. Emily opens it up. On the velvet lining is a Rose sex toy. You know the one. Robert starts laughing about how freaky Emily's great aunt was.

Can you imagine finding your great aunt's sex toy?

Dear Zeus I just realized when we all die someone is going to be cleaning out our nightstands and our top drawers. This is a horrifying thought. There are things we don't need our relatives to know about us.

Robert jokes that this could be a family heirloom passed down through the generations.

Robert leaves and Emily ends up spending the night on an air mattress in the living room. She can't sleep because she's suddenly incredibly horny. All she can think about is the Rose. “The hunger between her legs roared, yearning to be touched” and she actually considers going upstairs to get the toy.

Emily reasons that the toy looks new and her great aunt probably didn't use it. Girl, you have no way of knowing that. Do NOT use sex toys that might have touched one of your relatives! I can't believe I even have to say that. Amazon yourself one. It'll be there tomorrow. You can wait until tomorrow.

Emily tries to go analog....if you know what I mean....but she can't get herself there. She decides to go for the toy. You know, the one owned – and possibly used – by her great aunt. She runs up to get it and then brings it back downstairs. She gets back in bed and turns it on.....

Wait.

WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE.

She isn't going to wash it first? Are you fucking serious?

Is this a horror book? Because I'm horrified.

What follows is a detailed and lengthy um....ahem....romancing the stone session (if you know what I mean). Right as she's about to find the religion REM lost in 1991 (if you know what I mean), something whispers her name in her ear.

Emily can't stop the orgasm express and she ends up soaking the sheets. She just goes to sleep after that in the giant wet spot.

We skip to the next day. Emily meets Robert for coffee. She's still unbearably horny and Robert expresses concern because she seems distracted. She tells him that she's just tired.

Later that afternoon Emily is back at the house cleaning the windows. She's still super horny. “The feeling was raw and primal, growing from the depths of her pussy.

That's pure literature right there.

She puts down the cleaning supplies, shucks her pants, grabs the toy (WHICH STILL HASN'T BEEN WASHED!!!) and gets jiggy with it. The toy seems sentient, changing its vibration to match her needs without her having to do anything. Emily thinks it feels alive. She's so into it that she doesn't hear a door opening somewhere in the house.

(Dub-con ahead)

She begs the toy for more and feels a “ghostly touch”. The ghostly hands feel her up and then take over the toy. She arrives (if you know what I mean) and the ghost disappears leaving Emily on the floor “lying, marinating even, in a puddle of her own juices”.

Three months pass. Emily has entirely renovated the house. The ghost has settled in and keeps Emily company. It plays her favorite music, pours coffee and turns the lights on for her.  It also....ahem....services her regularly (if you know what I mean).  Emily is pretty happy with how things are going but then her stepmother calls. Lucille asks if she and Emily's stepsisters, Delilah and Bianca, can come visit and see the house. Emily is reluctant but says 'yes'. They arrive and sit down in the living room. Lucille says that Emily's dad didn't leave them much money so she wants Emily to sell the house and split the money with Delilah and Bianca. Emily laughs at her and says that the house was left to her and she's keeping it.

Lucille tries to change her mind, saying the house is too much for one person. Emily says the house keeps her company. Lucille scoffs at that and the house seems to take exception. There's a lot of creaking, wind comes out of nowhere and the lights start to flicker. Emily tells the women that they should leave. They do, because the house is clearly haunted.  When they are gone, Emily thanks the ghost for getting rid of them.

We go ahead another week or so. Robert shows up. Lucille told him that the house is haunted and he's worried about Emily. I still don't know what he is to her. Emily invites him in and gives him a tour to try to prove that she's okay and the house isn't scary. She does admit it's haunted, though, but tells him the ghost is nice. Robert thinks she might be going crazy so the ghost makes some noise and then moves Emily's clothes and hair to prove its real. Robert freaks out and demands that Emily leave the house with him immediately for her own safety. Emily warns him not to piss off the ghost but Robert is already being held in place by unseen hands.

(Non-con and Dub-con ahead)

Somehow, the ghost holds Robert while simultaneously removing Emily's clothes. Ghostie then gets Emily off while unconsensually forcing Robert to watch. Then we get this: “Her pussy was soon spraying her juices across the room like some kind of water pistol straight onto Robert's face”.

The ghost leaves and Robert is able to move again. He begs Emily to leave but she's all blissful and happy so she refuses.

Robert begins searching for an exorcist, convinced that Emily is possessed. It takes months. He eventually finds a “reverend” named Elara who doesn't seem to be connected to any church. Robert explains the situation and she agrees to go to the house that night. She tells him to burn lavender or cloves near the front door before she arrives to let the ghost know she's coming.

Why would she want to warn the ghost? Wouldn't sneaking up on it be the better choice here?

Elara the sexorcist arrives that evening and Robert lets her in. I guess he arrived earlier to burn the lavender and Emily let him in. He tells Elara that Emily is upstairs. They find her naked in bed with the ghost who is visible and yet not really discernible. Somehow. The sexorcist gets right to work, pulling out a penis-shaped wand and chanting things. It has no effect.

(Non-con ahead)

Elara pulls large anal beads from her bag, calling them prayer beads. She tells Robert to put the prayer beads in Emily's “anal passageway” and he does without question. The ghost finally seems to notice them. The sexorcist tells Robert to “thrust the beads in and out” because “it's the only way to cleanse her soul”. He does. He screams “I WON'T LET YOU HAVE HER” while he does, “holy light bursting from her chocolate starfish with will and determination”.

The ghost is fighting back. The sexorcist decides she has to....ahem.....rub her raspberry (if you know what I mean) in order to fight the ghost. So she just gets naked from the waist down. Robert asks what the hell she's doing and she says she has to “shower Emily in my Holy water” to cleanse her. She eventually reaches completion (if you know what I mean) and floods the room with her “divine fluids”.

The sexorcism is successful. Elara destroys the Rose and then reveals that the ghost was Emily's great aunt.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?

There were no trigger warnings in this book. There might have been on the author's webpage but there were none in the actual book. At least not at the time of me reading it. I'm definitely going to put some on this blog, though, because it would be super irresponsible of me not to.

So the book ends there. Thank goodness. That was really......something.....I guess. If I think too deeply about it, it's highly disturbing. Robert being forced to watch, the anal beads and being showered in divine fluids were all non-consensual acts and I guess we can debate whether Emily being with the ghost was dub-con or non-con. I can see it both ways. This author has a lot of interesting sounding books that would probably be great for this blog but I'm choosing not to read them due to lack of trigger warnings. I don't respect authors who don't use them when warranted and this book definitely warranted them.

Use trigger warnings!

And wash your damn toys!
